Trouble is, living on autopilot is not living. You are just going through the motions. There is no vibrancy about you. Joy eludes you. Yes, you may laugh and you may be involved in activities in your sphere of interaction, but you are not fully there. You are not satisfied. You are keeping yourself busy to prevent you from thinking about those things that have gone bad.
So how do you get off of autopilot? You have to be intentional.
- Look for those things in your life that you are grateful for. Look especially at those things that have gone wrong and look for something you can be grateful for in the situation, e.g. you lost your job but you are grateful you have a skill you can earn money from.
- Find a space that is quiet and have a conversation with God. Tell him your problems and ask for His guidance. Wait for His answer, He will respond in the stillness of your mind. Study His Word, the Bible.
- Then you must decide what you want. Set your goals and set out to achieve one goal at a time. Each goal you achieve will encourage you to do what is necessary to achieve the next one.
Before you know it you will be living life at its fullest, enjoying every moment of it.
